Essex Echo

Dr Allan Harkness is the lead Consultant Cardiologist at Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust.

He is an imaging cardiologist interested in all forms of echocardiography (transthoracic, trans-oesophageal, stress, contrast, exercise, etc). He is also trained in Cardiac CT.

He also works at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre where he provides a complex echo service for patients throughout Essex.

Dr Harkness is particularly interested in the utility of various stress modalities to refining the diagnosis of angina and helped develop the first web-based rapid access chest pain clinic in Scotland in 1999.

His research interests have been in LV dysfunction and screening.
